For yet another time in his life Michael was alone. The difference between this time, and the rest was that Michael had chosen to be alone this time. It wasn't that he didn't want people around him it was more that he was in a mood to reflect on everything that's happened to him.
It was strange to think that just a few short years ago he was on top of the world with the greatest friends in the world, and then he lost them all in a matter of three minutes. Those three minutes are by far some of the most confusing three minutes of Michael's life. They weren't so much confusing because of what happened more so because he wasn't sure if they were good or not.
That was often what he contemplated when he thought bout that incident. sure he knew the death of someone is never good, and he knew it was horrible that he was the one who caused it. He also knew that he discovered his powers because of that, and he loved his powers. His powers weren't bad it was just how he mistakingly used them that was bad. He knew it was no use arguing it with himself, but it just happened, and he couldn't force out of his mind to easily.
The battle was being waged from his seated position on the edge of Victory Lake. Michael was trying desperately to find a distraction, and with a quick glance found a few thin rocks. His mom had taught him how to skip them when he was younger, and he figured it was as good a distraction as any. he picked the first one up, and threw it. Two skips was all he got, but he still continued. [/blockquote]

Today was one of those days when Leah found herself without anything to do, when the sun was shining brightly outside and she had little desire to do anything. Her homework lay on her desk, already completed for the weekend, and everything else she thought of doing just become unappealing to her. Ever since the accident, many of the things she had once enjoyed became burdens, things that only served as constant reminders of what life she had once lead before the manifestation of her mutant abilities.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she lay on her bed, dark brown eyes staring aimlessly at the ceiling above her head. There had to be something she could do that would keep her mind occupied and not remind her of those painful memories. Right? Drawing? No, she couldn't even draw a proper stick person. Dancing? No, that was something she had once done with her Dad. Play her guitar? Again, something that reminded her of the life she had before the deaths of her family. It was ridiculous to think that she had telekinetic and telepathic powers, but was still unable to think of something to do for the day.
Right on cue, she heard another voice in her head.
"Leah? Could I request your help with something?"
"Of course professer. What can I help with?"
"Would you mind taking a walk along the banks of the lake? There is someone there whom I think you might be able to help."
She required no further explaination or request, immediately jumping up from her bed, slipping her feet into her black ballet flats before she headed out the door. She slipped quietly past a group of students who were heading out the front door, instead taking the back exit that would lead her directly to the lake the school prided so highly. It would not take her long to find whom it was that she had been asked to find, she thought to herself, for even with her powers, she would be able to locate whatever mind needed to be found, for whatever reason.
And sure enough, she found her target, a sandy hair boy who stood by the edge of the waters, skipping rocks across the glass like surface of the lake. Cutting her telepathic powers off, Leah stuffed her hands in her pockets, trying to figure how best to approach the boy without startling him or making him feel hostile toward her. Though her choices were limited, she chose the easiest of ones. Leaning up against one of the trees behind him, she folded her arms across chest, a soft smile on her lips.
"It's a good place to think, isn't it?" she asked him gently.

Michael had been able to subdue the argument in his head for the time being, but the thoughts were still fresh in his head. That was to be expected though because those thoughts didn't easily leave his mind. Michael grabbed another rock and whipped it at the water. He counted the skips as the rock moved out towards the center of the lake. Fifteen his best yet. He was enjoying the peace, but he wasn't the type of person who could stand being alone for too long, he had become accustomed to being around people so it seemed more natural to him.
Just as be was about to leave in search of a friendly face a voice interrupted his thoughts. Michael turned his head slightly to see if he recognized the face. He didn't, but that wasn't a problem he didn't mind meeting someone new. Yeah this place is pretty calm. I like it. Michael responded in a friendly tone before adding I'm Michael by the way
He looked the girl over quickly. She seemed friendly and he wasn't sure but he thought her to be around his age although he wasn't positive. Maybe it was because she reminded him of one of his old friends, but she seemed like someone Michael could trust. He couldn't put his finger on it until a soft breeze caught hold of her hair, she definately reminded him of Kelly, and the irony was almost laughable. As another breeze rolled in Michael realized he was a slight bit cold so he put on his blue sweatshirt for some added warmth. [/blockquote]

The boy showed her no visible signs of hostility at her sudden presence, which was good for a first impression. But Leah couldn't help but observe the way his body language screamed to her, as well as those emotions that radiated from his body. It was clear to her that he wasn't in the best of moods, whether he be missing his friends and family from his last school, or just wanting to forget painful memories the same as she did. Whatever the case, she had been asked to help him, and she would do her absolute best to see that she did.
He had introduced himself to be Michael, a name that was indeed new to her ears. At first glance, he gave off the appearance of a normal teenaged boy, probably no older than herself. But looks could be deceiving, she knew, and since he was here in the same place that she was, there was no denying that he was also a mutant. But with what ability, she had yet to discover.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," she smiled, lifting her body from the tree trunk so that she could approach him slowly. "I'm Leah, the resident telepath and telekinetic mutant."
An odd introduction, she thought to herself, but one was made none the less. With any luck, Michael would make little of it all, perhaps instead choosing to go back to the rocks he was throwing across the waters of the lake. Then again, if he turned out to be anything like she thought he might, then perhaps there was something under the surface for her to discover than merely his name. It was a strange thought that suddenly struck her mind, one that in any other situation, she probably wouldn't have thought of at all.
Sitting down on the cool grass that lined the banks, Leah pulled her knees to her chest, closing her eyes for a moment so she could inhale the wind that blew past them lightly, brushing her hair off to the side of her face. It felt so good to be outside, in the open air. Being in touch with mother earth.
"So, what brings you out here? I thought perhaps you would be mingling with the other students, making friends with them and such."

The day was fairly warm, and yet Michael was still a bit cold. It wasn't anything unbearable, and he had gotten used to being cold unless it was an uncommonly warm day. He figured it was something to do wit his powers, and how they were geared toward heat.
Leah had asked what brought Michael here, and while he knew the answer instantly he didn't very much want to give that answer. Leah, was her name, and Michael found it to be an original name, but one he had heard a few times before. Michael was a little uneasy with the fact that she was a telepathic, as he didn't want anyone to know about his terrible past, but he figured he didn't have a choice in this matter anymore. Seeing as he was left without a choice he tried to push both thoughts out of his head. he figured it was proper to tell her what his power was as well, and he didn't mind doing so. That's pretty cool you never have to worry about what someone thinks about you. Michael Joked I'm a pyrokinetic myself.
Leah had asked what brought Michael here, and while he knew the answer instantly he didn't very much want to give that answer. Just to think really its a fairly relaxing place. Michael was satisfied with his answer. He wasn't lying, but at the same time he was protecting his true thoughts, although he remembered he was only truly protecting them from being heard aloud. As much as I prefer being with a large crowd sometimes I need to get away from that and just relax. Another honest answer, but Michael nearly bit his tongue as he realized how that could be misconstrued into her thinking he didn't want any company. While early that might of been true, Michael was now in the need of someone to be around.
Another breeze whipped thorugh the many trees around the lake sending a small shiver up Michael's spine. He was getting just a little too cold for his liking so he tapped his foot very slowly about three times to cause heat to surge thorugh his body. He wasn't tapping nearly enough or fast enough to actually cause a flame thoguh. Just enough to keep warm. [/blockquote]
